<p>The following was composed by the Camp Discovery Search Committee for anyone interested in learning more&#8230;</p>
<p>EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR<br />
Camp Discovery at His Acres seeks a dedicated and experienced leader to serve as full-time Executive Director.</p>
<p>Located in Blythewood, SC, Camp Discovery at His Acres (Camp Discovery) is a not-for-profit recreation therapy camp offering a natural setting, a safe and accepting emotional environment and goal-oriented activities. In this setting and through recreation activities, Camp Discovery provides children with the atmosphere and tools to improve or develop personal awareness, confidence in positive independent thinking skills and awareness of the needs of others. Camp Discovery teaches children concepts or skills they need for managing their lives. Whether they are children who would benefit from developing leadership skills or those who have more acute challenges, they learn by being involved in activities designed just for their needs. <p>POSITION SUMMARY<br />
Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director plays a critical role in Camp Discovery’s current and future success. The Executive Director is responsible for working with the Board and providing leadership necessary to achieve Camp Discovery’s mission and uphold its values while positioning the organization for long-term success. As the hands-on leader, the Executive Director implements and oversees all areas of Camp Discovery’s operations, fundraising, programming, community needs, and serves as chief spokesperson for the organization. The Executive Director also provides leadership and mentorship to staff and all who are involved with Camp Discovery.</p>
<p>PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES*<br />
Leadership &#038; Direction – Creation and execution of an annual plan for program development, implementation and operations consistent with the organization’s mission and values; daily management of all staff and facilitation of effective communication between the board, committees, and staff.</p>
<p>Operations Management – Management of all facility and grounds maintenance and security concerns, vendor and contractor relationships, and all daily operational requirements of the organization.</p>
<p>Financial Management – Creation and management of an annual budget; implementation of financial controls and management of the organization’s bank accounts and books.</p>
<p>Marketing &#038; Public Relations – Implementation of a marketing and public awareness program to build relationships and awareness at the local level and across the state.</p>
<p>Fundraising &#038; Development – Establishment of fundraising goals and oversight of staff to ensure identification and solicitation of public, private, nonprofit, and grant funding sources to support operations and programming; development of a program to strengthen giving and relation with donors and supporters.</p>
<p>*The categories and activities listed are representative of general responsibilities; specific duties required for this job are subject to change due to the dynamic environment of the organization and potential changes in structural and operational needs. <p>KEY QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.</p>
<p>Strong organizational, problem-solving, and management skills; attention to detail.</p>
<p>Experience with fundraising, advocacy, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff supervision.</p>
<p>Marketing, public relations, and/or fundraising experience with a proven ability to successfully engage diverse populations.</p>
<p>Past success working with a board of trustees and the ability to cultivate professional and proactive relationships with board members.</p>
<p>A minimum of a four year college or university degree with major course work in an appropriate discipline or a two year associate degree and equivalent work experience.</p>
<p>Ability to transition from and between functioning in a creative, analytical and strategic mode.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Individuals, families or groups are welcome to join us for Camp Discovery’s Spring Volunteer Day on March 10th. Attendance may include the AM Shift which is 9 – 12 and/or the PM Shift which is 12 – 3.</p>
<p>“Release of Liability” forms are required for youth and adults. (You may download these from the Forms portion of this website.)</p>
<p>Though many volunteers are welcome, our numbers may have to be reduced or the activities postponed in the event of inclement weather. If that should occur, a message will be placed on the camp’s answering machine at (803) 754-2008.</strong></p>
<p>Many of the groups who visit Camp Discovery help us prepare for other visitors who may be less able to do service.</p>
<p>If you have a group, club or Sunday School Class who would like to come to the camp and participate in a service menu please use the Group Needs Assessment form to apply for a date/time, or contact the camp at 803.754.2008</p>
<p>Examples of the types of tasks are:<br />
Administrative &#8211; Tear apart continuous feed labels, collate reports, stuff envelopes, etc.</p>
<p>Housekeeping &#8211; Clean vinyl tablecloths with disinfectant, disinfect doorknobs in both buildings, hang fresh towels in the bathrooms, run a load of laundry, refill soap dispenser, sweep off doormats, etc.</p>
<p>Organizational / repairs / maintenance &#8211; Put “Women” sign up on wall with a screw, Take left over flower pots to Maintenance Building, Pour bags of salt in water-filtration tank, put fresh batteries in smoke detectors, etc.</p>
<p>Outdoor &#8211; Rinse off and string milk jugs, Weed flower beds on overlook, Get bird nest off of floodlight, Get bird nest out of fan for men’s room, prune limbs, run weed eater, spray weed killer, paint, square up a door, etc.<br />
Service opportunities are updated frequently.</p>
