EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Camp Discovery at His Acres seeks a dedicated and experienced leader to serve as full-time Executive Director.
Located in Blythewood, SC, Camp Discovery at His Acres (Camp Discovery) is a not-for-profit recreation therapy camp offering a natural setting, a safe and accepting emotional environment and goal-oriented activities. In this setting and through recreation activities, Camp Discovery provides children with the atmosphere and tools to improve or develop personal awareness, confidence in positive independent thinking skills and awareness of the needs of others. Camp Discovery teaches children concepts or skills they need for managing their lives. Whether they are children who would benefit from developing leadership skills or those who have more acute challenges, they learn by being involved in activities designed just for their needs. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director plays a critical role in Camp Discovery’s current and future success. The Executive Director is responsible for working with the Board and providing leadership necessary to achieve Camp Discovery’s mission and uphold its values while positioning the organization for long-term success. As the hands-on leader, the Executive Director implements and oversees all areas of Camp Discovery’s operations, fundraising, programming, community needs, and serves as chief spokesperson for the organization. The Executive Director also provides leadership and mentorship to staff and all who are involved with Camp Discovery.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES*
Leadership & Direction – Creation and execution of an annual plan for program development, implementation and operations consistent with the organization’s mission and values; daily management of all staff and facilitation of effective communication between the board, committees, and staff.
Operations Management – Management of all facility and grounds maintenance and security concerns, vendor and contractor relationships, and all daily operational requirements of the organization.
Financial Management – Creation and management of an annual budget; implementation of financial controls and management of the organization’s bank accounts and books.
Marketing & Public Relations – Implementation of a marketing and public awareness program to build relationships and awareness at the local level and across the state.
Fundraising & Development – Establishment of fundraising goals and oversight of staff to ensure identification and solicitation of public, private, nonprofit, and grant funding sources to support operations and programming; development of a program to strengthen giving and relation with donors and supporters.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and management skills; attention to detail.
Experience with fundraising, advocacy, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff supervision.
Marketing, public relations, and/or fundraising experience with a proven ability to successfully engage diverse populations.
Past success working with a board of trustees and the ability to cultivate professional and proactive relationships with board members.
A minimum of a four year college or university degree with major course work in an appropriate discipline or a two year associate degree and equivalent work experience.
Ability to transition from and between functioning in a creative, analytical and strategic mode.
