Help Scientists Collect Needed Data by Counting Birds
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. (February 8th, 2016) – Camp Discovery announces that it will be a count site in the 19th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Families and participants of all ages are invited to count birds for as little as 15 minutes or spend the entire morning enjoying and observing birds at Camp Discovery. Following the count, participants will submit their observations online to Birdsource and finish the morning with a cup of hot coffee or cocoa.
The GBBC at Camp Discovery is free, but pre-registration is required at www.campdiscoverysc.org.
A project of Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon, the Great Backyard Bird Count is a citizen science project that involves birders of all levels of experience observing birds at a stationary location throughout North America during the count period of Feb. 12-15. Information collected and reported online will assist scientists in tracking changes in bird distribution and help determine how the winter weather influences bird populations.
