Foraging for wild food is a magical experience that provides an intimate way to reconnect with nature, not only as an observer, but as a participant. Matt will explore the health benefits of wild-harvested food, explain how to safely identify edible weeds, herbs, fruits, and greens that grow throughout our area, and may even share some delicious recipes to incorporate foraging into your life and that of your family!

Matthew has over 20 years of experience in wild food foraging, permaculture design and other topics related to living sensibly and in more harmony with natural systems. He leads wild plant foraging walks, consults as a permaculture designer and teaches sustainability related workshops in the Columbia area. Matt, his wife (Emily) and their 3 children live in Columbia, SC where they have turned their urban backyard into a secret permaculture oasis.
