Welcome to Camp Discovery

“Teaching a child not to step on a caterpillar is as important to the child as it is to the caterpillar.”                                                                         - Bradley Miller

Camp Discovery offers a more traditional way of experiencing nature, something that is quickly vanishing from the lives of children today.  This time in nature is vital to a child's overall development — intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually, and physically — but there is a growing disconnect between children and nature.  Camp Discovery programs bridge that gap at a critical time in a child’s development.

Camp Discovery provides an essential break for children to step out of the chaotic environment in which they know and into a natural, peaceful surrounding that presents a highly effective setting for learning. Our customized recreation and experiential learning programs introduce children to the power of the natural world, while empowering them with the skills to becoming strong, healthy, interconnected adults.  Unlike the familiar "field trip", these carefully planned expeditions have a clear set of learning goals around a particular theme or concept.  Children are challenged to try new roles, explore new things, and test their abilities in a safe and accepting emotional environment.

Through nature, we connect a child’s mind, heart and spirit while providing meaningful life skills that are beneficial at school, at home and into adulthood.  Camp Discovery targets the development of the whole child; tapping into their imagination and natural curiosity, fostering a sense of belonging and community, and providing knowledge and tools to reduce unhealthy behaviors and lead healthier lives in an ever-changing world.
