Great Backyard Bird Count
Join us at Camp Discovery on Saturday, February 13th, 2016 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm for the 19th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count! Bird watchers of all ages can learn and observe as they count birds to create a real-time snapshot of where birds are in our area. Birding can also spark a child's curiosity, interest in the outdoors and engagement with science!
Why count birds? Scientists and bird enthusiasts can learn a lot by knowing where the birds are. Bird populations are dynamic, they are constantly in flux. A project of Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon, the Great Backyard Bird Count is a 'Citizen Science' project and the data collected will help scientists determine how winter weather influences bird populations. Following the count, observers will submit their observations to eBird for compilation and finish off the count with a cup of coffee or cocoa!
Participation is free! Pre-registration is required. Click below or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
