Discovery-To-Go Programs have been developed to bring the Camp Discovery experience into the classroom. Discovery-To-Go Programs are engaging and interactive. Students use critical thinking and team work to collaboratively solve STEM challenges. The session includes literature and engaging materials and highlights environmental stewardship as another key component of each Discovery-To-Go Program.
Discovery-To-Go sessions are led by experienced, certified environmental educators and incorporate the following:
• A fun team building challenge for each group
• A literature based mini lesson
• An interactive S.T.E.M. based component including hands-on activities specific to lesson
Program Information & Pricing
Our Discovery-To-Go experiences are designed to bring Camp Discovery into the classroom! Our Discovery-To-Go programs run about an hour per class. Our facilitators will bring all materials needed to run the program.
Camp Discovery is proud to be able to offer a facilitator to student staffing ratio of 1:10, with chaperones and parents participating at no charge. Our policy is that once the program is booked and numbers are solidified, we will invoice based on those numbers (see tier chart to the right). If the total number decreases by 10 students and you do not inform us at least two weeks prior to your trip, you will be invoiced based on the last confirmed group size.
Steps to Scheduling Your Visit
Step 1: Email contactus@campdiscoverysc.org to request available dates. Please include your grade level, total number of students, number of classes, and program requested. Please provide your school contact information (school phone number with your classroom extension) as well as your personal cell phone number (in case of inclement weather). Please also include the name and contact information of the bookkeeper at your location.
Step 2: Check your email for correspondence from Camp Discovery and reply in a timely manner to confirm scheduling. Once we receive your confirmation you will be added to our programming calendar.
Step 3: Several weeks prior to visit, final numbers will need to be solidified and an invoice will be sent.
Cancellation Policy
If the school must cancel a field study, please contact our office immediately at (803) 754-2008 or contactus@campdiscoverysc.org. All schedule changes must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Cancellations prior to two weeks in advance may be subject to a fee. If schedule changes occur due to inclement weather, we will make every effort to reschedule your visit.
Inclement Weather
In the case of extreme weather conditions (i.e. snow, extreme temperatures, thunderstorms), Camp Discovery may cancel the program. Cancellations due to weather will be made before the end of school on the day before the scheduled trip, whenever possible. Camp staff will contact the school via phone or email on the day prior to scheduled field study. If trip is cancelled due to inclement weather, Camp Discovery will make every effort to reschedule the Discovery-To-Go Program.
